“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?
And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!””
our Missions Focus for SEPTEMBER 2025
Kent and Brenda Royer have deep roots in Medicine Hat and at Hillcrest Church. This couple have been missionaries since 1995 and are celebrating 30 years of serving with Wycliffe Canada.
We live in a world of travel and along with that comes the need for attention to travel risks and medical insurance for those that are serving abroad. Kent and Brenda are part of that support for Wycliffe Canada teams.

Before you know it another season of summer camps has come and gone, with the leaves starting to change and the nights getting cooler. One of my favorite things to do in this season is to enjoy the quiet at camp. Summer is wonderful with it’s busyness and excitement, but as fall comes it is a good reminder of the seasons of life as they change and bring rest and new opportunities.
Our theme this summer was DIRT, and we focused in on the parable of the sower this season. I love this parable in particular as it connects with each one of us no matter where we are in our journey of faith; from those who have never heard the gospel and may not be ready to receive it, to the ones who want to live for God but need to let go of some distractions so that they can live for God more fully.
This summer we had over 240 kids campers, 17 LITs and 28 family campers. We had speakers from our partner churches each week, and over the course of the summer there were 35 campers who gave their lives to Christ. It’s so impactful to see the campers and even the staff grow in their faith, deepening their relationship and experiencing the life and freedom that comes through a relationship with God.
We had a new crew of staff this year, with several of our LIT graduates on staff for the summer. I want to thank Hillcrest as once again this year our staff needed to fundraise for all or part of their summer. At the last minute I received approval for 5 positions for 8 weeks through CSJ, which was a big relief for myself and those leadership staff who had started in the spring who were covered by those grants. We had quite a challenge recruiting enough senior girls leaders each week, and we are so grateful for everyone who was able to come and help this summer. Working alongside our staff and volunteers each summer is something I have come to love very much. Getting to see them grow to trust and rely on God throughout the summer, and how they grow in their confidence as they make new friendships and build up their skills in serving and leading others.
Thank you so much for all of your continued prayers and support for the camp!
Without your partnership we wouldn’t be able to keep this all going. Remember to keep an eye out for more news and events from the camp this Fall. God Bless you! Denver and Julie Knodel
