For the last year (and more) the staff and board have been trying to clarify the particular mission that God has given to us at Hillcrest. We’ve been spending concentrated time on it since June of 2020 and in March of 2021 the board agreed before the Lord that they would start operating with the following Mission:

Making disciples of Jesus Christ and giving everyone in our area opportunity to have a personal relationship with Him.

The mission is fairly straightforward and in reality, almost every evangelical church in the world could say that something like that is their mission.

But let’s unpack what it means for us a little more

Our Drivers

At Hillcrest we understand that “making disciples of Jesus Christ” involves:

  • Following Jesus together

  • Cultivating community that cares and

  • Ministering God’s love to a hurting world.

A “personal relationship with Him” means knowing, trusting, and obeying Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, to the glory of God the Father; according to the Scriptures, together with other believers in our church, our area, the world, and throughout history.

“Our area” relates to our neighborhoods, to Medicine Hat and region, and also our extended reach through our missions partners and our online ministry.

“Giving everyone . . . opportunity” is highly aspirational for us and can only be accomplished within the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.

This statement is for all who belong to the Hillcrest Church family.

Not just the leaders, staff, and volunteers.

Everyone of us.
